First Sunday in Advent: HOPE
WELCOME TO WORSHIP SERVICE IN THE FELLOWSHIP HALL.
TODAY – NEW ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES START:
A class in spiritual warfare taught by Doug Wood in the Fellowship Hall for both men and women, and a ladies’ class on “Managing Your Moods” led by Becky Roberts and Meredith Fowlie in the lower level meeting room in the parsonage. A new members’ class is also being taught by Pastor Steve in the parsonage.
NOTICES
SECRETARY Robin Beck and trustee Tim Beck will be away Nov. 30 – Dec. 13. If you have administrative needs, call Pastor Steve or Mary Ann Nash. If you have any urgent trustee-related issues, speak to one of the other trustees (Vickie Pinkham, Doris South, John Van Dyke or Jeff Keyes).
THE SANCTUARY WILL BE DEDICATED in a ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 18, during the morning worship service. This service will be very special and will also include the Children’s Christmas program – you don’t want to miss either of these opportunities for celebration. The service will be followed by light refreshments downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. (Need we say it? Please, no food or drinks in the newly refurbished sanctuary!)
CHRISTMAS GIFT BASKETS will once again be lovingly created with homemade items and delivered to public servants and emergency crews who have to work on Christmas. Can you help? See Fay Christy or Melissa Nein. Stay tuned for further information about a planning meeting in December.
MISSIONARY NEWS
From Joe & Angie Cousins, with Campus Crusade at U. of Maine, Orono –
[Last month] we had our annual fall conference at Camp Fairhaven in Brooks, Maine. We had 51 students from colleges and universities all across Maine and northern New Hampshire attend. We had a great time hearing from speakers, having quiet times, having a Lifelines program focused on evangelism, as well as a great worship band. The theme of the conference was “crazy love,” and we looked at how Jesus accepted us, seeks after us, and sends us out into the world…
So far this year we have been able to take 143 students on Lifelines trips. … On the last trip, when I asked on a survey their desire to learn about God on a scale from 1 to 10, the average was 7. Prayer requests: for Kaleb and Kristin Poth to obtain needed support to join our staff; for our students to stay motivated to share their faith at school; for more Lifelines student leaders so we can take more groups on outreaches; for Rebecca, our intern, and students Dan and Beth as they consider joining staff with Lifelines.
HELP NEEDED: We need someone to do Junior Church on Jan. 1. Contact Mary Ann.
