Second Sunday in Advent: PEACE
Welcome to the newly renovated Sanctuary!
NOTICES
HELP NEEDED: Someone to do Junior Church on Sunday, January 1. Please contact Mary Ann Nash.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS GIFT BASKETS!
Come! Be part of our church’s annual Christmas Gift Basket outreach ministry, to bless those dedicated people in our community who serve us on Christmas Day (police, fire, ER, Coast Guard, etc.). As the time gets closer to the “delivery date,” we will need: Christmas cookies, small homemade breads or pies, chocolates, fudge, peppermints, etc. Also, small Christmas decorations (no Santa Claus please), ornaments, ribbons, etc. We are also looking for a few more gift baskets, medium to large size. There will be an organizational together on Friday, Dec. 9th at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and breakfast goodies in the Fellowship Hall. Come! Bring your ideas and bring the children for a GREAT time of fun and blessing! Contact Fay Christy or Melissa Nein with any questions.
NURSERY NEEDS: Due to new consumer safety laws about cribs and due to our insurance requirements, our church nursery needs to either get hardware to make the cribs’ drop sides immovable or buy new compliant cribs. One option being considered by the nursery coordinator and helpers is to use pack ’n plays instead. Do you have one in excellent condition that you might donate? Speak with Naomi Dickinson.
SECRETARY Robin and trustee Tim Beck are away until Dec. 14. For administrative needs, call Pastor Steve or Mary Ann Nash. If you have any urgent trustee-related issues, speak to one of the other trustees (Vickie Pinkham, Doris South, John Van Dyke or Jeff Keyes).
MISSIONARY NEWS
From Paul Bothwell, Missions Door and Boston Urban Academy –
I had several screws and clamps removed from my cheekbone and eye socket bone that were still there from the face rebuilding of almost 20 years (after a hit-and-run accident); they were protruding more and more… So they’re out, I’m doing fine, it’s healing, and in January we’ll see what else might be needed. Thank you for your prayers, care, support and sustained interest in both the remarkable ministry here and in our own personal well-being.
Paul also writes that their church cluster recently held a Celebration of Love, Marriage and Dedication to Serving Humanity. Rev. Mahn Krua, age 87 and a missionary to America from Liberia who is part of the Missions Door church planting team in Boston, married Laytay Krua, 78, also from Liberia. They had both fled Liberia during war and he had planted several churches in the U.S. Now he and his new bride, who were both widowed, will return to their war-torn homeland to develop church leaders, promote education and build self-sufficiency. “No one is too old to fall in love!” writes Bothwell.
